On hold

I start a new job today. I spent the entire morning on New Year's Eve at the mall...filling out job applications. Since I have retail experience I finally gave in and went that route. My first stop was Dillard's but they weren't accepting apps. My second stop was Bridal Connections. My third, Macy's then JCPenny, Hallmark, Victoria's Secret, Wandering Cowboy, Things Remembered, GAP, Walden Books, Bath and Body Works and New York & Co. I could have stopped at number 2. I start today part-time at Bridal Connections. The more I sell the more hours I get so hopefully I'll be full time pretty soon. It's an hourly wage plus commission and I calculated it up that if I work full time and get the most commission possible I could be making a teacher yearly salary. Of course I know that is far down the road and is best case scenario but still it's something to strive for. So for now, my teaching dreams are on hold, for who knows how long. I guess as long as I have a part in lighting up someones face I'll have done my job whether it's a 2nd grader who just found out he earned that 5 extra minutes of recess or a bride who just found her dream dress.

And oh, what a dream...to light up someone's face! Dreams come and go and vary in importance all through our lives...the main thing is to not ever stop dreaming!
