I cannot believe how quickly these past two months have gone by! I know everyone told me they would but they really did! In the past month Our Little Miss has changed so much and experienced so many new things.
- First Christmas~ We celebrated L's first Christmas just the three of us at home on Christmas morning. We were lucky enough to then pack up and head to Angelo (daddy just happened to starting his week off the next day). we got to enjoy three wonderful Christmases and L got to meet some new family and like-family members. The only downside to the week was that that seemed to be the week her reflux decided to show itself.
- Reflux~ the week we were in Angelo for Christmas she just seemed to cry and cry cry with no way to calm her. I thought it might just be too many new things and being overstimulated at first. And we thought it could be gas so my sister went and got some gas drops they worked wonderfully...the first time. It continued when we got home and didn't really let up any so we tried some gripe water thinking it might be colic. It also worked wonderfully...the first time. Also during this time I have cut out all dairy from my diet thinking that it may be upsetting her tummy. Finally we decided to call the doctor (which means a trip back to Angelo) and he decided it was probably reflux. She has now been on Nexium for a little over a week and we are seeing improvements. I'm not sure if it's the medicine or the lack of dairy or being back in her routine or a combo of it all but we'll take it.
- Scheduling~ we started this month trying to get ourselves into a school schedule. We have a few more weeks still but I figured the earlier we start the better. This also means starting L on a little bit of formula. We decided there was no way I would be able to keep up with all the breast milk she would need to make it through a day with me at work. I wasn't too happy about having to make that decision but after talking to some really supportive girls I know that this is best for us. She done well with it so far. We've tried a soy based and a milk based and both seem to agree with her tummy so this Momma's hoping that means she can start introducing some diary products back into her diet. She misses her cheese and chocolate!
•Started sleeping in her own room
•Doesn't like tummy time...at all but is still holding her head up very well so we don't push it.
•Getting LOTS of smiles and several coos...especially just after she wakes up or if she's getting a fresh diaper.
•We ventured out to the mall and Target for our first shopping trip.
•She went to her first movie. Midland has a drive-in theatre so it was quite easy for us to just cart her with us. We stopped and got some food to take with us. It was nice to know she could cry and scream or need to nurse or just need to be bounced and we wouldn't bother anyone but ourselves. I see many more of these trips in our future.
•If the girl had any balance she would be standing. She "stands so big" and thinks she's pretty big stuff. Her legs are ridiculously strong.
•We've gone back to swaddling every time she sleeps. For naps we just swaddle her in a blanket but night time she gets a swaddle sack made specifically to keep her all bundled up all night long...she busts out of both. But she sleeps so much better and gets better rest being swaddled.
•The past couple nights she has slept. 6 and 7 hour stretches!
•Dr. A says she's growing great. She is 10 lbs 0.6 oz and 22 inches long. That's almost 4 lbs and 3 inches since she was born. She's in the 25% for both height and weight.
•Between the 2 month immunizations the doctor poking and prodding the Nexium and the extra Tylenol it was a pretty rough day.
Its true that saying "what did we do before this baby?". I have no idea. Actually I do...we slept late, went where we wanted to when we wanted to, took showers everyday :). But I wouldn't change any of it for the world.
*I will edit with more pictures when I get back to Midland and my own computer :)
